Where can I find citation help?


You can find help with references and in-text citations in our Citation + Plagiarism guide or using our Academic Drop In chat service during the Writing Skills hours.


My library books are due. How do I renew them?

You can renew items any time through your library account.  However, due to the COVID-19 closure, we will be adjusting all due dates as needed until the College reopens, so you will not need to renew.  


Will I be charged overdue fines?

No, you will not be charged overdue fines for any items that were due from March 13, 2020 until normal operations resume. 


Can I still borrow books/equipment (including calculators) from the library?

No, you cannot borrow any physical items, including books, equipment, calculators, etc. until we resume normal operations.  Please note that the Library has an extensive collection of eBooks and online journals available through our databases.  


Is the library open to faculty, staff, students, or visitors while campus is closed for COVID-19?

No, both Niagara College campuses are currently closed to everyone except vital employees with prior approval.


How do I get research help while the library is closed for COVID-19?

Library staff is available to help with your research questions via our chat service, by emailing library@niagaracollege.ca, or emailing your library liaison directly.  You can also find help through our Research Assignment Help guide or our video tutorials.


What are the Library service hours?

Online help from Library staff is available from 8am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday.  


When will the LLC reopen?

The LLC will reopen when Niagara College resumes normal operations. Please visit the Niagara College website and follow the College’s social media for updates. Thank you for your patience.


Can I get a book from the Library’s reserve collection?

No, currently no items, including books from the Library’s reserve collection are available to be borrowed. We have been working with some instructors to help identify alternatives, please contact your instructor for more details about options for your course.


Should I return my items to the Library book drop?

No, Niagara College campuses are currently closed.  Please hold onto your materials until the College resumes normal operations. Overdue fines will not be charged during the COVID-19 closure. If you are not returning to Niagara College, please email library@niagaracollege.ca to make arrangements for the return of your items.


How do I reset my password? Is the ITS helpdesk still available?


All staff, including ITS helpdesk staff, are currently working off-campus.  You can reach the ITS helpdesk by emailing itservicedesk@niagaracollege.ca. You can also find help from the ITS knowledgebase for help with resetting your password online and other common questions.
