Skip to main contentApproved tutors provide course specific support to students needing assistance and have the opportunity to determine their own set schedule. By becoming a tutor, you can make extra money while staying engaged in your program material. Tutors are paid $14.21 per hour, for up to 12 hours per week. Upon request, time spent in your tutoring sessions can also be recorded on your Co-Curricular Record.
“I think it is fantastic that Niagara College offers tutoring to those who can really benefit from it. I also learned and reinforced my knowledge through the process of tutoring. It was a win-win!”
For further information or assistance, library staff members are available to chat!
Peer Tutoring appointments will be conducted online for the Spring term. As before, each student must book an online appointment to meet with a tutor. Video and audio are required for online appointments.
Professionalism must be maintained during online appointments and behavioural expectations are the same as on-campus appointments.
You must meet these requirements in order to be considered:
1. Visit the Co-Curricular Record website at getinvolved.niagaracollege.ca to begin.
2. Join the Peer Tutoring Organization.
3. Once you become a member, you will have the opportunity to fill out an online Tutor’s Application. Scroll down the page until you see the application form.
4. Complete and submit your application.
5. If your application is approved, you will receive further instructions.
Are you interested in seeing how it works? Simply register for an account at niagara.mywconline.com to view the online schedule for each campus.
Peer tutors determine their own set weekly schedule and the number of hours available to work (max.12 hours/week). Each tutor is approved for specific courses and will be required to use video and audio when assisting students online.
Students who require help with their courses access the online schedule to view tutor availability and make appointments as needed. Appointment notifications will be sent to your Niagara College email to confirm details.
Peer Study Assistants provide the same support as Peer Tutors, but are currently enrolled in the same course as the students who need support. Please submit an online application through Get Involved. Before your application can be approved, we will obtain a recommendation from your professor that you are performing well in the class.
Please note, preference is given to a Peer Tutor if one is available.
Note takers are currently required for many courses!
If interested in becoming a note taker, please contact the Peer Tutoring Program Coordinator.
