Borrow

Library Cards and Borrowing

  • Please visit your campus library to set up a library account or fill our the following form to request a library account.
  • Your Niagara College ID acts as your library card. 
  • You may borrow books, DVDs, reserve materials, feature films, paperbacks, magazines, and equipment such as, digital cameras, etc.
  • Search for items to borrow using our catalogue

Renewals

  • Items may be renewed in person, over the phone or online. If you’d like to renew an overdue item, you must contact the library.
  • To renew online, go to My Library Account:
    • Use your first initial and last name as your "library card number," e.g. bhytes
    • Use your birthday in mmdd format as your password, e.g., 0114 (January 14)

Holds

  • Holds can be placed on items in the catalogue that are owned by ncLibraries.

  • Some items, such as reserves and reference items, cannot be placed on hold.  The system will indicate whether a hold was successfully placed on an item or not.

  • When logged into your Library Account, select the "Hold" button to place your hold:screenshot of hold button in library account

 

Can't find what you need in the library collections and databases?

We might be able to borrow it for you from another library - simply fill out an Interlibrary Loan Request Form and you'll get a timely response from the library staff.

The Libraries in Niagara Cooperative (LiNC)

You can use your Niagara College ID card to borrow items from some of our local public libraries or have items from these libraries shipped to Niagara College by placing a hold.

As of Fall 2008, there is a reciprocal borrowing agreement in place for books only.

For Niagara College Students and Staff: 

  • Niagara College students must register in person at Brock and present their student card with photo ID.
  • Borrow a maximum of 15 books, for a loan period of 2 weeks per book
  • Renew each item once for another two weeks
  • Pay 50 cents per item per day for an overdue book.
  • Return the book in-person to Brock
