Mental health professionals can provide students with referrals to appropriate NC resources and supports, as well as facilitate confidential community referrals. Services are available virtually and in-person upon request.

Counselling Services

Talking about your thoughts and feelings with a supportive person can help feel better. It can be very healing to voice your worries or to talk about something that’s weighing on your mind. And, it feels good to be listened to—to know that someone else cares about you and wants to help. When necessary, counsellors can also make referrals to appropriate community services for further assistance.

Our services are free, confidential, voluntary and can help students with:

• Resolving academic difficulties: studying, test preparation, essay writing skills, time management, listening, effective reading, note taking etc.
• Relationship difficulties
• Mental health and wellness
• Peer tutoring services
• Personal crisis
• Substance use/abuse
• Anxiety
• Educational planning
• Finances
• Transition to community services

All information shared with the Counselling Services office will not be released without your written consent. Exceptions to confidentiality would occur only as required by law.
