Technical Math Mature Student Test
Niagara College uses the ACCUPLACER Next-Generation Arithmetic, Next-Generation Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistic and the Next-Generation Advanced Algebra and Functions tests for admission purposes to fulfill technical math requirements for applicants.
Arithmetic Assessment Content
The test questions will focus on computation, order of operations, estimations and rounding, comparing and ordering values in different formats, and recognizing equivalent values across formats. It will assess the following knowledge and skills categories:
- Whole Number Operations
- Fraction Operations
- Decimal Operations
- Percent
- Number Comparisons and Equivalents

- All multiple choice - 20 questions
- Score Range: 200 - 300
- Required Score: 253
- Partial Calculator Use
- Some questions will not allow access to a calculator, however some questions will provide access to a calculator. If permitted, a calculator icon will appear in the top right hand corner of the screen.
Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics Assessment Content
The test questions will focus on a range of topics including computing with rational numbers, applying ratios and proportional reasoning, creating linear expressions and equations, graphing and applying linear equations, understanding probability and sets, and interpreting graphical displays. It will assess the following knowledge and skills categories:
- Rational numbers
- Ratio and proportional relationships
- Exponents
- Algebraic expressions
- Linear equations
- Linear applications and graphs
- Probability and sets
- Descriptive statistics
- Geometry concepts for Pre-Algebra
- Geometry concepts for Algebra 1
