Peer Tutoring

How to check if a course has a peer tutor

Faculty and staff can check if a course has peer tutor by logging into Niagara College's Peer Tutoring Platform. If a course does not have a peer tutor, students should be directed to complete a peer tutor request form. Faculty and staff can help learners with the form if needed.

Peer tutoring for students with a letter of accommodation (LOA)

Students with a Letter of Accommodation (LOA) can schedule weekly appointments of up to 2 hours. To arrange this, students or authorized faculty and staff (e.g. the student's professor, accessibility consultant, academic advisor, etc.) must contact the Learning Centre at their campus.

How to promote peer tutoring services to students

To promote peer tutoring services, staff and faculty can share this PDF documentPPT slide, or the following the message via Brightspace, email, etc.:

"Hello students,

If you need extra assistance with your course work, book an appointment with a peer tutor by logging into Niagara College's Peer Tutoring Platform.

Also, for support with math, science, or writing/communication, you can attend daily academic drop-in sessions in the Library and Learning Commons - no appointment needed.

If you have any questions, please contact the Learning Centre at your campus or visit your Library and Learning Commons service desk."

How to recommend a student to become a peer tutor

If a faculty member has a student who is excelling in their course and would like to recommend them as a peer tutor, the faculty member should contact the Learning Centre at their campus.
