What are note taking services?

Note taking services are a valuable accommodation that help students with disability-related challenges access in-class material. These services are provided free of charge to currently enrolled Niagara College students who have a Letter of Accommodation in place.

How do I arrange note taking support?

Students with a current Letter of Accommodation are eligible for note taking services. Connect with Health, Wellness and Accessibility Services to arrange a Letter of Accommodation. Follow the provided steps provided in the pdf below to request a note taker for your specific course(s).

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Which classes are eligible for the note taking service?
    Note taking services can be requested for any lecture-based class. Practical, hands-on, or fitness-based classes may not be eligible.
  • Is there a limit to the number of classes that I can get Note Taking for?
    We do not have a limit on the number of classes that you can request Note Taking services for. Please note, while we do our best to find note takers for all requested classes, we are not always able to secure a note takers.
  • Do I still have to attend classes if I have a note taker?
    Yes. Attendance is required to remain eligible for note taking services. This support complements — but does not replace — your presence in class.
  • When will I receive the notes?
    Note takers upload lecture notes by the end of the same week the class takes place, ensuring timely access to the material.

Become a Note Taker

Support your peers while strengthening your own academic skills! As a note taker, you’ll be helping students who have been approved for this accommodation to succeed in their courses.

Responsibilities of a Note Taker

  • Attend classes regularly and on time
  • Take clear and comprehensive notes
  • Upload your notes each week through the designated system

  • Add valuable experience to your resume
  • Receive a stipend at the end of the term (based on the number and quality of notes submitted)
