Students are automatically imported into Alma

  • Do not add a student in Alma
  • Do not update information in Alma
    • If students need to update their information, they will need to visit Blackboard or update their information in MyNC under Personal Information
  • If information needs updating, place a Note so staff can remind the student to update their information. (ex. incorrect address).

 

Retirees/Alumni

Alumni Information

Information from Library website: Graduates of NiagaraCollege certificate, graduate certificate, diploma, collaborative degree and applied degree programs.

 

 

For Retirees/Alumni (includes all Niagara College alumni or past employees who are not currently classified as students, faculty or staff):

Library Cards and Borrowing

  • We may have your information still on file if you are a recent graduate. If not, please visit your campus library to set up a library account or fill out the following form. There is no fee. Cards are valid for one year from date of issue and may be renewed if there are no outstanding fines. Please bring your card to borrow materials.
  • You may have 5 items checked out on your card at any one time
  • You may borrow circulating books, paperbacks, and computer discs/software.

Renewals

  • You may renew your titles 1 time. An item cannot be renewed if there is someone waiting for it.
  • Titles may be renewed in person, over the phone or online. If you’d like to renew an overdue item, please come into the Library and pay the late fee at the time of renewal.

Off-Campus Access to Online Resources

  • You have off-campus access to the Library catalogue.
  • Due to licensing agreements between the College and our database vendors, you do not have access to the research databases to which the Library subscribes.

Alumni borrowers may not be in Alma as their account might be purged by the time they contact the Library for an account. Staff must verify if user is in Alma before continuing with registration.


If found:

Change from External to Internal by clicking on Toggle Account Type toggle account type

Account can now be modified to edit the following:

  • User Group - Alumni
  • Expiry - 2 years
  • Patron has institutional record - No
  • Create a generic password and provide to Alumni
  • Check the option to force password change on next login
  • Email (personal)
  • Home Address
  • Phone Number

If not found:

  • Verify Alumni Perks status with screenshot of Library Card in app
  • Register as a new Internal User
    • Name
    • Primary Identifier will be Niagara College ID
    • User Group - Alumni
    • Expiry - 2 years
    • Patron has institutional record - No
    • Create a generic password (nc1234)
    • Check the option to force password change on next login
    • Email (personal)
    • Home Address
    • Phone Number

Community Borrower

For Community Users (includes all library users who are not classified as Niagara College students, alumni, faculty or staff):
