Welcome to the ConfideNCe Toolkit. This toolkit was developed to support first year students in the Paramedic, Personal Support Worker, Practical Nursing, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) programs at Niagara College.
We recognize the transition to college can be stressful and healthcare programs can present their own unique challenges. Some of these challenges include adapting to a demanding academic workload, managing the stress associated with rigorous coursework and clinical responsibilities, and learning to develop the resiliency skills needed to be confident in the classroom and the field. High expectations within the healthcare professions can intensify the pressures faced by students, underscoring the importance of developing effective coping strategies.
However, this transition also brings incredible opportunities! Students can take advantage of dedicated and personalized support services including the ConfideNCe program, and other campus resources, to help manage stress and navigate the demands of their program.
The first year of your program offers a chance to develop critical professional skills, build important networks with peers and professionals, and grow personally by overcoming initial obstacles. Successfully managing these challenges can lead to enhanced resilience, confidence, and preparedness for future professional roles in the healthcare field.
